FR Comp logo experienced WFor this piece I started with the 1913 Hume patent and adapted it into a higher bust coverage cocktail dress. I paired this with a black wrap skirt, maintaining the shorter front but changing the shaping. I was inspired by the long line of the patent to attempt to create a dress. I worked on this in between my client work and managed to try out a few techniques and ideas that I will pursue further very soon. These included using synthetic whalebone as well as doing a more cupped rib (inspired by Marianne Faulkner, whom I hope to lace into this one day, because the rib shaping doesn't show on the mannequin shots). I put together a dress diary about the construction and journey along the way, which ended with some silly fun in Las Vegas.

This is really in a league of it's own - I am in awe. What an incredible interpretation of the Hume patent.

Laurie, the styling on this piece is amazing, not too mention the beautiful shaping. I'm simultaneously envisioning "The Wild Wild West" (the tv series) and Harley Quinn.

Now this is FUN! It's got that Moulin Rouge feel, and the colours are really reminiscent of fin de siecle decadence. Your workmanship is superb and it's a beautifully-made piece with real attention to detail and a perfect fit. I love it!

If this isn't the end-all, be-all, it's very close. Beautiful work.

This a great interpretation of 1913 E.F.Hume Corset. It's exciting and I agree with Pollyanna ~ it does have a bit of a Moulin Rouge feel ~ but much more sophisticated! Great job!!
